Gingerbread houses

I can't believe I attempted this with 25 third graders!! But I did, and we seemed to survive! It was a lot of fun, but a lot of noise and chaos too!! The kids had a great time decorating their gingerbread houses. We did this on Monday and then they took them home today after they hardened up. There were still a few that got broken before they made it out of the room. It was a huge deal trying to get them into bags and boxes to take home! I'm not holding my breath on whether any of them made it all the way home in one piece! Most of my students ride the bus so you can just about imagine how that trip went!
Tomorrow their teacher is planning on coming in to visit with the baby. She is wanting to surprise the class. It is snowing pretty good right now, so she may end up canceling. We may end up having a delay too, which would be just fine with me about right now. I am so ready for this break! I'm really getting attached to these kids, but they have really worn me out too! It has been so hard this week to get them to do any kind of school work. They just want to do fun things, which we have been doing plenty of, but I guess not enough to suit them!
Anyway, here are some pictures of them making their gingerbread houses.
